Since I was a young boy, I was always interested in building and fixing things. Once I became a homeowner in 2004, that interest became a full-blown passion. I am a self-taught carpenter and DIYer, learning my trade from my grandfather, father, high school work trips, friends in the carpentry industry, reading books, watching home improvement shows, and an overall willingness and drive to take on any project. My hands-on experience and meticulous attention to detail have led to beautiful results.
I was born and raised in Kirkwood and attended Kirkwood High School, class of 1996. I graduated from the University of Missouri in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and received a master’s degree from Webster University in 2010. I spent my entire career in the Financial Services industry, mainly in compliance and conducting fraud investigations.
My wife, Michelle, and I have two wonderful children, Lindsey and Michael, who have followed in their dad’s footsteps by attending Kirkwood schools and (hopefully) will become Mizzou Tigers.
Even though I was successful in my professional career, it was never completely fulfilling to me. In January 2021, with the encouragement and unwavering support from my wife, family, and friends, I decided to turn my passion into a new career and began The Handy Carpenter.
My vision for The Handy Carpenter is to help homeowners create the homes of their dreams by utilizing my education, corporate experience, and personal passion to deliver professional customer service. I believe in delivering on homeowners’ expectations through responsive communication, punctuality, and most importantly, quality work.
Let me know what you’re envisioning, and we can work together to make your dream come true!
